History of Bouncy Castles

In 1962 John Scurlock was experimenting with inflatable solutions for tennis court covers when he noticed that his employees had fun walking on the inflatable mattress he had created. The loss and refilling of air made them bounce and the employees kept flopping and jumping and having a great time. Scurlock decided to create kids amusement bouncers and started the first inflatable moonwalk business called “ Space Walk “ at that time the devices were referred to as moonwalks, since then there are many different terms to describe them. Jump houses – bounce houses- jumping castles and bounce castles.to name a few. Since then the inflatable amusement industry has grown to include various other amusement devices such as slides, obstacle courses and bungee runs.

Started in 1992 Funtime inflatables can be credited for bringing inflatable fun to Vancouver Island. Since then we have continued to add more products to our growing inventory of inflatables and we still can claim that we have the largest selection of bouncy castles and inflatable fun on Vancouver Island
